Tensions erupted in Gazipur's Jirani area on Thursday morning when workers from one garment factory attacked another for not joining their protest.

The clash led to a temporary blockade of Nabinagar Road, causing disruptions in the area.

The incident occurred around 9:00am when workers from Radial International Limited, who were protesting with various demands, called on employees of the nearby Irish Fashion Limited to join them. When the Irish Fashion workers refused to participate, Radial workers stormed their factory, vandalising gates, furniture, and windows.

In retaliation, Irish Fashion workers attacked the Radial factory the following morning, leading to a violent clash between the two groups.

The situation escalated, and agitated workers from both factories blocked the Chandra-Nabinagar road, further intensifying the tension.

Upon receiving the news, the Industrial Police and army personnel were deployed to the scene to disperse the workers and restore order. By 10:00am, traffic on the road had resumed.

Gazipur Industrial Police Superintendent Sarwar Alam said, "There is a strong presence of industrial police and army personnel at the scene, and we are working to resolve the conflict through discussions with the workers. The situation is now under control, and traffic is back to normal."

He also confirmed that eight factories in the district remain closed for the day due to the unrest.
