A Dhaka court on Wednesday placed former Khulna-4 lawmaker Abdus Salam Murshedy on two-day remand in a case lodged over the killing of garment worker Rubel during the recent anti-discrimination student movement.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Akteruzzaman passed the order as police produced Murshedy, also the former senior vice-president of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF), before the court and pleaded to place him on 10-day remand, reports BSS.

Garment worker Rubel joined anti-discrimination student movement in Adabor Ring Road area on August 5. He got shot on his chest and abdomen on that day and succumbed to his injuries two days later.

Rubel's father Rafikul Islam filed the case on August 22 against 156 people, including Sheikh Hasina, Obaidul Quader and Sakib Al Hasan.

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained Abdus Salam Murshedy from the city's Bashundhara residential area on October 1.
