Yunus, Modi likely to meet on BIMSTEC summit sidelines

Chief Adviser to the Interim Government, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi are likely to meet on the sidelines of the BIMSTEC summit in Thailand this November. 

Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Tauhid Hossain disclosed this information at a press conference on Tuesday. 

Tauhid Hossain stated, "I had a meeting with India's Foreign Minister in New York. Unfortunately, we could not establish contact at the highest level because the day our Chief Advisor arrived in New York, the Indian Prime Minister had already left the day before."

He further noted, "There will not be a meeting during the Commonwealth summit (scheduled for October 21-26 in Apia, the capital of Samoa). The Indian Prime Minister will not attend, as he will be at the BRICS summit, which is significant for them. Our Chief Advisor will also not attend the Commonwealth summit."

Tauhid Hossain mentioned, "There is a possibility of a meeting next month at the BIMSTEC summit. It is expected, although the exact date has not yet been finalized. There is a chance it will occur in November, where bilateral meeting may take place. Additionally, we will make efforts to address mutual concerns through various levels of communication."
