A Dhaka court has granted a five-day remand for former Public Security Division secretary Md Jahangir Alam in a case filed over the killing of teenager Abdul Motalib.

The Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate passed the order after police produced him before the court with a ten-day remand request on Tuesday.

Earlier in the day, he was arrested in the capital's Gulshan area.

Abdul Motalib was shot and killed during an anti-discrimination student movement in the Dhanmondi Thana area of Dhaka on August 4.

His father, Abdul Motin, filed a murder case with Dhanmondi Police Station on August 26, naming 176 individuals, along with 250–300 unidentified persons.
