Verdict in Badda lynching case on Oct 9

A Dhaka court has set October 9 to pronounce the verdict in a case lodged over killing of Taslima Begum Renu in a mob beating in North Badda area in the capital.

Judge Murshid Ahmed of the Dhaka Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judges’ Court-6 set a new date for the verdict on Monday, as it was not yet prepared. 

Renu was brutally beaten to death by a mob on suspicion of being a child lifter, in front of North Badda Government Primary School on July 20, 2019.

Her nephew Nasir Uddin filed the case with Badda Police Station against 400-500 unidentified people.

The investigation officer of the case, DB police inspector Abdul Haque, submitted a charge sheet against 15 people to Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court on September 10, 2020.

Judge Fatima Imroz Khonika of the Dhaka Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judges’ Court-6 framed charges against 13 people on April 1, 2021.  

The accsued in the case are Ibrahim alias Hridoy Molla, Ria Begum Moyna, Abul Kalam Azad, Kamal Hossain, Md Shahin, Bachchu Miah, Md Bappi, Murad Mia, Sohel Rana, Asadul Islam, Bellal Molla, Md Razu and Mohin Uddin.
