Court sends ex-industries minister Nurul Majid to jail
A Narsingdi court on Wednesday sent former Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun to jail in a murder case.
His lawyer Khandakar Halim said the police produced him before the court this afternoon and sought a five-day remand against him.
The court rejected the remand and sent to jail, considering that he is 78 years old and underwent open-heart surgery, he added.
The Rapid Action Battalion, RAB, arrested Nurul Majid, a former MP from the Narsingdi-4 constituency, in Dhaka’s Gulshan area early today and handed over to the Madhabdi police station in Narsingdi.
A case had been filed against him with the police station over the attack on students and people, and murder on August 4 during the Anti-Discrimination Students Movement.
