Anisul, Mamun shown arrested in 2 more murder cases

Former Law Minister Anisul Huq and former Inspector General of Police Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun have been shown as arrested in two separate murder cases. 

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Nurul Huda Chowdhury passed the order following petitions submitted by the police to show them as arrested around 8:00 am on Monday.

Earlier, on August 13, Anisul was arrested in the Sadarghat area of the capital during an alleged escape attempt. The next day, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mamunur Rashid placed Anisul on a ten-day remand in a case filed for the killing of shop staff Shahjahan Ali in the New Market area.

On August 24, he was produced before the court at the end of his remand period and placed on a five-day remand in each of the two additional cases. On September 19, he was placed on a five-day remand in a case filed under the Foreign Currency Act.

Meanwhile, the Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested Mamun, and the following day, September 4, he was placed on an eight-day remand in a case filed for the killing of grocer Abu Sayed during the anti-discrimination student movement in Mohammadpur.
