Yunus off to New York to attend 79th UNGA session

Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus has departed Dhaka for New York, USA, to attend the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

A Qatar Airways flight QR-643, carrying Yunus and his entourage, departed Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 5:05 am on Monday.

A 57-member delegation led by the Chief Adviser of the interim government of Bangladesh will participate in this session. The high-level debate of the 79th UNGA will commence on September 24.

The Chief Adviser is scheduled to deliver a speech during the general debate of the General Assembly on September 27. It is expected that he will highlight his strong conviction in building a state system that is people-oriented, welfare-focused, and dedicated to the public interest in his speech. 

This year, the theme of the United Nations general debate is "Leaving no one behind: Acting together for the advancement of peace, sustainable development, and human dignity for present and future generations."
