Youth beaten to death on suspicion of theft in DU hall

A youth was beaten to death by a mob over allegations of theft in Fazlul Haque Muslim Hall of Dhaka University on Wednesday evening. 

The identity of the deceased has not yet been confirmed.

Sources said the youth was detained by students of the residential hall on suspicion of being a thief. He was assaulted multiple times in the guest room of the hall until 10:00 pm. At one point, he was seated in the canteen and given rice, only to be beaten again later.

When the house tutors of the hall arrived around 10 pm, some students took the youth to Dhaka Medical College Hospital around 12:00 am, where he was declared dead. The students subsequently left him there.
