Ganosamhati gets EC registration

Ganosamhati Andolon has officially been registered as a political party by the Election Commission (EC). A notification confirming this was issued today by the EC Secretariat. 

EC Secretary Shafiul Azim handed over the registration certificate to a delegation from Ganosamhati Andolon, assigning the party the registration number 53. 

The party's symbol is the "Mathal," a leaf made conical hat worn by farmers for protection from rain or the scorching sun.

The notification, signed by Shafiul Azim, stated that Ganosamhati Andolon, led by Zonayed Saki, was registered following a High Court judgment and directives. The registration is valid until further notice.

The party had initially applied for registration on December 28, 2017, but was denied by the EC at the time. Ganosamhati Andolon then filed a petition with the High Court, which in 2019 ordered the EC to register the party. The EC, however, appealed against the ruling.

On September 10, the EC withdrew its appeal and subsequently issued a public notice, allowing six days for objections or claims regarding the party's registration.
