3 members of a family electrocuted in Jhenaidah
Three members of a family were electrocuted at Surapara village of Porahati union in Jhenaidah Sadar upazila on Monday.
The deceased were Angar Ali, 60, son of late Mokshed Molla, his brother's wife Hasina Khatun, 55, and nephew's wife Reshma Khatun, 40, residents of the village.
Quoting locals Jhenaidah Fire Station official Tanveer Hasan said "A papaya tree in the backyard of farmer Aangar Ali's house has fallen due to storm and rain. On Sunday (September 15) night, Aangar Ali died on the spot after being struck by an electric wire when he went to fix the papaya tree. When he did not return home at night, the family members started looking for him.
On Monday morning Hasina Khatun and Reshma Khatun saw Aangar Ali lying on the ground and went to rescue him. At that time, they were also electrocuted and seriously injured.
They were rescued from the spot and taken to Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital where they died while undergoing treatment, Tanveer Hasan said.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Jhenaidah Sadar Police Station Shahin Uddin confirmed it.
