3 of a family among 5 killed in Gazipur road crash

Five people including three members of a family were killed when a covered van crashed into a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Gazipur on Saturday night.

The accident took place on Kaliganj-Tongi-Ghorashal bypass near Mulgaon Madrasa area in Kaliganj upazila around 11:00 pm. 

The deceased were identified as Nazmul Hossain, son of Mogrob Ali from the Hazipur area in Satkhira Sadar Thana; Amal Kumar Karmakar, 39, son of Subhash Karmakar from the Noagaon area in Gazipur; Rabeya Begum, wife of Abdur Rahman from Shibpur Thana in Narsingdi; her son Mohammad Ali, 45; and her grandson Aman Ullah, 5. They all were the passengers of the auto-rickshaw.

However, the injured auto-rickshaw driver was sent to Dhaka for better treatment. 

Kaliganj Fire Service leader Mostafizur Rahman confirmed the matter on Sunday morning.

He said on information, they rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies of four people. Later, local people took injured Aman to the hospital where he died. 

Md Alauddin, Officer-in-Charge of Kaliganj Police Station, said that three men, one woman, and one child were killed when a covered van crashed into a CNG-run auto-rickshaw. Legal action will be taken in this regard.
