ANM Emran Khan, RAB’s Legal and Media Wing Senior Assistant Director, and Mahfuz Imtiaz Bhuiyan, Officer-in-charge of Adabar police station, separately confirmed the arrest to Jago News.

Source said, Farhad was arrested in connection with a case filed with the police station over shooting and killing students and the general public on 5 August during the anti-discrimination student movement. He has been handed over to the police station in connection with this case.

Farhad was first elected as a Member of Parliament in 2014. In 2015, he became the president of the Meherpur district unit of the Awami League.

He served as state minister for public administration from January 2019 to January 2024 and later as minister of public administration from January 2024 to August 2024.
