US delegation reaches Dhaka

A high-level US delegation led by Treasury Deputy Under Secretary for International Finance, Brent Neiman, has arrived in Dhaka.

A plane carrying them landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Saturday morning.

The delegation includes Assistant Secretary of State for the US Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs, Donald Lu, as well as representatives from the US Department of the Treasury, USAID, and the Office of the US Trade Representative.

Regarding the visit of the US delegation, Foreign Secretary Md Jashim Uddin said the delegation is coming to Dhaka following the interim government’s assumption of power. This is a strong indication that the United States values its relationship with Bangladesh. The discussions will be multidimensional and not limited to a single topic, with preparations being made accordingly.

Source said the discussions will focus on how the United States can contribute to Bangladesh's economic growth, financial stability, and development priorities.

The US delegation is scheduled to meet Chief Adviser to the interim government of Bangladesh, Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus, Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain, Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed and Foreign Secretary Md Jashim Uddin on Sunday.

The delegation is expected to leave Dhaka on September 16.
