Arrest warrant against BASIC Bank's Bachchu, family members

A Dhaka court on Thursday issued an arrest warrant against former BASIC Bank Chairman Sheikh Abdul Hye Bachchu and his four family members in a corruption case.

Dhaka Metropolitan Session Judge Mohammed Ash Shams Zaglul Hossain passed the order after taking into cognizance the charge-sheet in the case.

The Anti-Corruption Commission deputy director Nurul Huda on October 3, 2023, filed case on charges of concealing Tk 94.75 crore in the asset details and evading tax around Tk 8.53 crore.

ACC assistant director and investigation officer of the case, Neyamul Hasan Gazi, submitted the charge-sheet before the court on June 5. 

Four other charge-sheeted accused against whom arrest warrants also issued are: Bachchu's wife Shirin Akhter, brother Sehikh Shariar Panna, sons Sheikh Rafa Hai and Sheikh Sabid Hai Anik.
