Former power, energy and mineral resources adviser Toufiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, who served under former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, has been arrested.

The Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested him from the capital’s Gulshan area on Tuesday night.

DB Chief Additional Police Commissioner Rezaul Karim Mallik confirmed the arrest to Jago News. 

He said Toufiq-e-Elahi was arrested and taken into DB custody. He was shown arrested in a case.  

Since 2009, he had served as the Prime Minister’s Adviser on Power, Energy and Mineral Resources with the status of Minister.
