Missing chance to reform will put Bangladesh's future at risk: Yunus
Chief Adviser Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus declared on Sunday that the student-led revolution has created an unprecedented opportunity for reforming Bangladesh.
"This is a rare chance since the country's birth, and we must guard it fiercely. If we lose this opportunity, Bangladesh's future will be at risk," he emphasised during a meeting with students at the Chief Adviser's Office (CAO).
Yunus iterated his commitment to realising the students' vision of a discrimination-free nation. "We must fulfill the dream they sacrificed their lives for. There's no turning back," he stated.
He acknowledged the challenges, noting, "We might lack certain qualifications or power, but our commitment is unwavering. We will achieve our goal."
The chief adviser warned that those previously in power would resist efforts to disrupt their reign of corruption. "Stay the course with the mission you've embarked upon until your dream is realised," Yunus urged.
He praised the youth-driven leadership for its role in elevating Bangladesh on the global stage. "Bangladesh stands out because of its youth-led movement. We aim to build a country that the world will look up to and learn from. People will wonder, 'What was your secret? What was the mantra?'"
Yunus encouraged the young people to persist in their fight against discrimination, injustice, and corruption. "The impact of your mantra might not be clear now, but its power is undeniable. Keep it alive. If we lose this focus, our efforts will be in vain," he warned.
He urged the students to correct any deviations by the interim government from their vision. "Stay firm in your beliefs and ignore any contrary advice. Your vision and intentions are correct," Yunus concluded.
Also present at the meeting were Adviser for Environment, Forest, and Climate Change Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Information and Broadcasting and Posts and Telecommunications Adviser Md Nahid Islam, and Labour and Employment Ministry Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan.
