Safiqur Rahman appointed as Biman CEO, MD

Biman Bangladesh Airlines has appointed its former director (Marketing and Sales) Dr Md Shafiqur Rahman as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.

The new board of directors of Biman appointed him to the post on Wednesday. 

He joined Biman Bangladesh as a Trainee Commercial Officer in 1986. He later served as the Director of Administration & Human Resources, Director of Procurement & Logistics Support, and Director of Marketing & Sales.

Shafiqur also worked in tariff, market research, reservation, cargo, and other departments of the airlines.

Besides, he served as the country manager of Biman in Singapore, Thailand, and Greece stations. He retired in 2017 after a long career.

Safiqur completed his undergraduate and postgraduate studies in Economics from the University of Dhaka. He completed an MBA in Marketing from the University of Southern Queensland, Australia, and a Doctor of Business Administration from Southern Cross University, Australia, in 2011. Additionally, he has completed several diplomas and training programs in aviation from the International Air Transport Association and the Bangladesh Airlines Training Centre.
