A Dhaka court has placed former Inspectors General of Police Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun and Shahidul Haque on remand in two separate murder cases.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Detective Branch of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested them.

Abu Sayed, a grocer, was killed in Basila area under Mohammadpur police station on July 19 when the police opened fire on the students and public during the quota reform protests.
