Hartal in 3 hill districts on Wednesday

A day long hartal was enforced in Rangamati, Khagrachari and Bandarban for Wednesday demanding to scrape the draft of the CHT Land Dispute Resolution Commission (Amendment) Bill, 2016.

Confirming the matter, Central President of Parbatya Bangalee Chhatra Parishad, Shabbir Ahmed said, we will announce tougher program if the government don’t fulfill our demand.

On August 1, the Cabinet approved the draft of the ‘Chittagong Hill Tracts Land Dispute Resolution Commission (Amendment) Bill, 2016’ curtailing the discretionary power of the commission’s chairman in decision making, aiming to put an end to land disputes in the CHT.
