Two held with 17 gold bars at airport
Armed Police Battalion (APBn) with the help of customs officials in separate drives last night arrested two youths, including an Indian national, with 17 gold bars worth about Taka two crore from Hazrat Shahjalal (R) International Airport here.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Tanjila Akhter of APBn confirmed the news saying, "Mukesh Kumar, 40, an Indian national and Jubayer Dewan, 25, were arrested from Green Channel and Canopy-2 areas of the airport."
She said custom officials seized 13 gold bars weighing 1.75 kg worth about Taka 1.75 crore from Mukesh, who arrived here from Dubai by a flight of Emirates Airlines yesterday.
Meanwhile, Jubayer reached Shahjalal airport from Riyadh by a flight of Saudi Airlines (SV806) and 4 gold bars weighing 0.50 kg was recovered from his possession.
They were handed over to concerned police.
Separate cases were filed with airport police station in this connection.
