Chief Adviser Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus on Thursday sought cooperation of Switzerland to bring back money laundered abroad from Bangladesh.

He sought the cooperation as Swiss Ambassador to Dhaka Reto Renggli paid a courtesy call on him at his office at State Guest House Jamuna.

"Is there any way to bring back the money?" Prof Yunus asked the envoy, adding that a lot of stolen money has been transferred abroad.

"It is important," the chief adviser’s press wing quoted Prof Yunus as saying.

The Swiss ambassador said Switzerland is always "willing to cooperate in compliance with globally recognised procedures and standards and in line with proposals it has put forward in recent years”.

Switzerland, he said, would support the interim government of Bangladesh and strengthen economic ties with the country.

"I really hope that the business environment will grow further in Bangladesh," said the envoy.

He expressed concern about the developments in Myanmar's Rakhine State, which shares a border with Bangladesh.

Prof Yunus said his government was looking to nurture young Rohingya leadership in camps.
