Travel ban on 14 former ministers, MPs

A Dhaka court on Thursday (August 29) imposed a foreign travel ban on eight former ministers and six parliament members of the Awami League government.

Those who were barred from leaving the country are former Health Minister Zahid Maleque, former Social Welfare Minister Dr Dipu Moni, former Education Minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury, former Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder, former Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun, former State Minister for Industry Kamal Ahmed Maojumder, former Minister Shahjahan Khan, former Minister Kamrul Islam, former MPs Salim Uddin, Mamunur Rashid Kiran, Kujendra Lal Tripura, Kazim Uddin, Nur-e-Alam Chowdhury and Ziaur Rahman.

Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court Judge Mohammad As-Shams Jaglul Hossain passed the order after a plea filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission, ACC, seeking the ban.

ACC's public prosecutor Mahmud Hossain Jagangir confirmed the matter.
