A murder case has been filed against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, former ministers Anisul Huq, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and 51 others in Brahmanbaria.

Babul Miah, the brother of Jahirul Islam, who was killed on March 27, 2021, during the violence surrounding Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Bangladesh, filed a case against them with the Brahmanbaria Sadar Model Police Station on Wednesday night.

Former Housing and Public Works Minister RAM Obaidul Muktadir Chowdhury, Brahmanbaria district Awami League Senior Vice President Md Helal Uddin, General Secretary Mahbubul Bari Chowdhury, Organizing Secretary Ehteshamul Bari Tanjil, Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Khokon, Dr Abu Sayeed, former Member of Parliament Mayeenuddin Moyeen were among the accused.

Apart from them, 200-300 unnamed individuals were also accused in the case.

The plaintiff alleged that Jahirul was killed when the accused opened fire and detonated cocktails during a protest against Narendra Modi’s visit to Bangladesh. At that time, it was not possible to take any legal action due to non-cooperation from the police and civil administration, as well as the fear of repression.

Mozaffar Hossain, Officer-in-charge of Brahmanbaria Sadar Model police station, confirmed the matter.
