6 to die for killing Gazipur school boy

A Gazipur court on Tuesday sentenced six people to death for killing a school boy in 2001.

The death-row convicts are Rafiqul Islam, Atikul Islam, Alom Sheikh, Selim Sheikh, Noyon Sheikh and Ansar Hossen Sheikh.

The court also fined them Tk 10000 each.

Besides, the lifers were identified as Anwar Begum, Abdul Motalib and Sheikh Samsuddin.

According to the prosecution, Sanaullah Sarker, son of Jashim Uddin, of Gaghtia village in Kapashia, was strangled to death following the family feuds on February 9, 2001.

Sanaullah had an affair with the daughter of lifer Anwara Begum. The incident was a sequel to the dispute.

Victim’s brother Asaduzzaman filed a case with Kapashia Police Station. Police submitted a chargesheet against the accused.

After examining the records and witnesses, District and sessions Judge Fazle Elahi handed down the verdict in presence of all the convicts in the dock.
