Journalist’s body recovered from Hatirjheel lake

The body of a female journalist was recovered from Hatirjheel lake in the capital on Tuesday midnight. 

The deceased was identified as Rahanuma Sarah, 32, a newsroom editor of at the private television channel GTV.

Md Sagar, a passerby who found Sarah, said he spotted the body floating in the water of Hatirjheel Lake. He recovered her in an unconscious state and took her to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where the attending doctor declared her dead.

Sagar also mentioned that Rahanuma would live in Kalyanpur and her father’s name is Bakhtiar Shikder.

Confirming the incident, Bachchu Miah, the in-charge of the DMCH police camp, said the body has been kept in the hospital’s morgue. The concerned police station has been notified.
