As many as 115,400 unidentified people have been accused in six cases related to vandalism and arson at various police stations in Chattogram following the fall of the Awami League government. 

Kazi Tareq Aziz, Additional Commissioner of Chattogram Metropolitan Police, confirmed the matter on Tuesday. 

He said the cases were filed at Kotwali, Patenga, EPZ, Pahartoli, Akbar Shah and Sadarghat police stations. Two more cases are in the process of being filed at Doublemooring and Halishahar police stations.

Source said a case was filed at Kotwali Police Station against 30,000 to 40,000 unnamed individuals, while 20,000 to 25,000 were accused in a case filed at Patenga Police Station. Another case was filed at EPZ police station accusing 25,000 to 30,000 individuals, while a separate case was filed at Pahartoli police station against 14,000 to 15,000 people. Additionally, 4,000 to 5,000 people were accused in a case filed at Akbar Shah police station, while 300 to 400 individuals were also accused in a separate case filed at Sadarghat police station. 

On August 5, several thousand angry people attacked, vandalized and set fire to the six police stations in the port city following the fall of the Awami League government. They also looted arms from these stations. Additionally, police station registrar books, government and private important documents and goods were burnt in the fires. Many police members were also injured in the incident. The cases have been filed under the Special Powers Act.
