The flood situation in the country is slowly improving as the river water levels started to decrease.

Sardar Uday Raihan, executive engineer of the Flood Forcasting and Warning Centre, informed this on Friday afternoon.

He said the flood situation in Brahmanbaria, Cumilla, Feni and Chattogram is gradually improving as there have been no heavy rains in the eastern bordering districts and India's Tripura in the last 24 hours.

As a result, the water levels of the rivers in the regions started to fall, he added.

The Flood Forcasting and Warning Centre, however, forcasts no heavy rainfall in the country's northeastern, eastern, southeastern and adjacent areas in the next 24 hours.

At least 13 people were killed and around 9 lakh affected by floods triggered by heavy rains, the Disaster Management and Relief Ministry said today.
