6 to die for killing Oliullah in Chandpur

A Chittagong court on Tuesday convicted six people and sentenced them to death for killing Oliullah in 2014 in Chandpur over land dispute.

The convicts are Abdul Kader Mridha, Nazmul Hasan, Abdul Hamid, Mehedi Hasan, Gourab and Harun Mridha. All the convicts are in run now.

Accroding to prosecution, the convicts killed Oliullah over land dispute in Kochua upazila of Chandpur district on July 29, 2014.

Later, victim’s wife filed a case in this connection.

On March 31, 2015, police submitted charge sheet against 10 people.

On January 6, 2016, home ministry shifted the case to Chittagong Divisional Fast Track Tribunal.

After examining all the records and 15 witnesses Judge Md Muhitul Haque Anam handed down the verdict.
