Contractual appointments of Bangla Academy DG, 4 others scrapped

The contractual appointments of Bangla Academy director general Dr Md Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari and four others have been cancelled.

The Public Administration Ministry issued a notification in this regard on Saturday. 

Four other officials whose contractual appointments were scrapped are Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy director general Liaquat Ali Lucky, Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha managing director and chief editor Abul Kalam Azad, Jatiya Grantha Kendro director Minar Mansur, and first secretary (Press) to Bangladesh High Commission in Kolkata Ranjan Sen.

The decision comes amid a significant reshuffle in the administration, which has seen the cancellation of many top officials' contractual appointments and the removal of others.
