Changes in interim govt, responsibilities redistributed

Significant changes were made in the interim administration on Friday, with the addition of four new advisers and the redistribution of responsibilities among existing ones.

Among the new advisers, Economist Wahiduddin Mahmud has been appointed as adviser for the Ministry of Planning and the Ministry of Education, while former cabinet secretary Ali Imam Majumder has been assigned to the Office of the Chief Adviser.

Additionally, former Secretary Muhammad Fawzul Kabir Khan has been appointed as adviser for the Ministry of Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources. He will also look after the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges and the Ministry of Railways.

Lieutenant General (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has been named as adviserfor to the Ministry of Home Affairs replacing Brigadier General (Retd) Sakhawat Hossain. He will also look after the Ministry of Agriculture.

Seven advisers have been assigned additional ministries and departments, increasing their workload. A prominent and outspoken adviser's office has also been changed.

On Friday (August 16), the Cabinet Division issued a notification outlining the new assignments.

Saleh Uddin Ahmed now has additional responsibility for the Commerce Ministry, along with his previous role in the Finance Ministry.

Asif Nazrul  will manage the Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment and the Ministry of Culture, in addition to his duties in the Ministry of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs.

Adilur Rahman Khan will serve as an adviser for the Ministry of Housing and Public Works, alongside his ongoing role in the Industries Ministry.

Syeda Rizwana Hasan will now oversee the Ministry of Water Resources, while continuing her work with the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change.

Nahid Islam has been appointed as the adviser to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, along with his existing role in the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology.

Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan has been given charge of the Ministry of Labour and Employment, in addition to the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

Farooq-e Azam will now handle the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, as well as his existing role in the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs.

Brigadier General (Retd.) Sakhawat Hossain has been reassigned from the Ministry of Home Affairs to the Ministry of Textiles and Jute.
