Ex-army officer Maj Gen Ziaul arrested

Police have arrested sacked Major General Ziaul Ahsan in a murder case filed with the New Market police station in Dhaka.

On a tip-off, the law enforcers arrested him from Khilkhet area in the capital on Thursday night, said Md Obaidur Rahman, additional deputy commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.

Earlier on August 6, the Bangladesh Army underwent a significant reshuffle in its leadership, with Major General Ziaul Ahsan being relieved from service, a press release from the Directorate of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
