A Dhaka court has placed the private industry and investment adviser to former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Salman F Rahman, and former Law Minister Anisul Huq on a 10-day remand in a case.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mamunur Rashid passed the order on Wednesday after police had produced them before the court, seeking a 10-day remand.

Police station and court sources said Salman F Rahman and Anisul Huq were shown arrested in a case filed with the New Market police station over the death of Shahjahan Ali, a shop worker, in New Market area in the capital during the recent quota reform movement.

On a tip-off, the duo were arrested from Sadarghat area in the capital on Tuesday when they were trying to flee using the waterway, Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md Mainul Hasan had told Jago News.

On August 5, Sheikh Hasina stepped down and fled the country in the face of mass uprising.

Before and after her departure, many ministers and MPs of the Awami League-led government went into hiding and many others left the country.
