Three lynched at Sayedabad

Three young men were lynched by unidentified individuals in the Sayedabad area of the capital early Wednesday morning.

The deceased have been identified as Saidul Islam Yasin, 19, Syed Arafat Sharif, 20, and an unidentified person.

Yasin, the son of Sakhawat Hossain, lived in a rented house in Dhalpur Boubazar, Jatrabari, and was a madrasa student in the Qutubkhali area. Syed Arafat Sharif, the son of Kabir Hossain from Kadmirchar village in Narayanganj's Araihajar, resided in the Tony Tower area of Jatrabari.

Yasin's mother, Shilpi Akhtar, recounted that her son had been working as a volunteer for the past 15 days. "He left home on Tuesday morning, and we spoke multiple times throughout the day, with our last conversation around 4:00am today. He was still fine then," she said. Later in the morning, Shilpi received a call informing her that her son's condition was critical and that she should come to the Jatrabari police station. 

"I rushed to the police station and found my son in a severe condition," she said. Shilpi added that Yasin was still conscious when he was taken to the hospital, where he claimed they were beaten on false charges and had committed no crime. However, he gradually weakened and was declared dead upon arrival at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Samrat Sheikh, a scout member who took Syed Arafat Sharif to the hospital, said, "I learned that these three were beaten by unknown individuals on accusations of rape in Sayedabad." They were later brought to the Jatrabari police station, where they were transported to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. 

Inspector Bachchu Mia, in charge of the Dhaka Medical College Hospital Police Camp, confirmed that the three men had been beaten on rape charges in Sayedabad and were declared dead upon arrival at the hospital.
