Killers to face trial, cases against protesters to be withdrawn

The Ministry of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs has made five key decisions, including initiating process to bring those involved in the killings during the July-August period aimed at suppressing the student movement on the dock.

These decisions were made during a meeting with officials from the Law and Justice Division at the ministry on Saturday. This marks the first time Adviser for Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs Asif Nazrul visited the ministry after being sworn into the interim government on Thursday night.

The other four decisions include:

Withdrawal of Cases: All criminal cases filed between July 1 and August 5 to suppress the student movement will be withdrawn within the next three working days.

Release of Detained Youth: Arrangements will be made to release children and adolescents detained at the Child and Adolescent Development Center on false or harassing charges within the next three working days.

Withdrawal of False Cases: Immediate steps will be taken to withdraw false and harassing cases filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act and Cyber Security Act.

Legal Aid: The toll-free national helpline (16430) of the Department of Law and Justice will be made available to assist those facing fraud and harassment cases.
