US Secretary Blinken welcomes Bangladesh interim govt
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Saturday welcomed the swearing-in of Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus to lead the interim government in Bangladesh after the resignation of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
“I welcome the swearing in of Dr. Muhammad Yunus to lead the interim government in Bangladesh,” Blinken wrote on X.
“The United States supports his call for calm and peace and remains committed to working with Bangladesh as it charts a democratic and prosperous future the people in Bangladesh,” he said.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned and fled the country in face of mass uprising On August 5.
Following her resignation, President Mohammed Shahabuddin on August 6 dissolved parliament to make way for the formation of an interim administration.
