Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her team, who reached India on Monday fleeing a violent uprising against her Awami League government, could not even carry extra clothes or daily use items, Indian government sources told India Today TV.

According to sources, Sheikh Hasina was given just 45 minutes by the Bangladesh Army to leave the country. She flew with her sister, Sheikh Rehana, and her close aides left for India in a military transport jet and landed at Hindon airbase near Delhi.

The team which arrived in India with Sheikh Hasina was in total distress as they had to leave Bangladesh in a hurry to escape the mobs which even entered the Prime Minister's residence, sources in the government informed India Today TV.

The members of the protocol office deployed with the Bangladeshi entourage helped them to buy clothes and daily use items, sources said.

Even after 48 hours of arrival, Sheikh Hasina and her team are staying at a safe house near the airbase.

According to sources, India has allowed Sheikh Hasina refuge till she gets asylum in some other country. Indian security personnel and protocol officers are helping the entourage members to help them overcome the stress and shock, sources said.

National Security Advisor Ajit Doval was the first on ground to meet Sheikh Hasina and her entourage members. The two sides have discussed the present and future plans of the ousted Prime Minister.
