Shahidur Rahman new RAB DG

The government has appointed AKM Shahidur Rahman as the new Director General of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB). 

The public security division of the home ministry issued a gazette notification in this regard on Wednesday.

The notification was signed by Deputy Secretary Md. Mahabur Rahman Sheikh, by order of the President.

The outgoing RAB Director General Barrister Md Harun-or-Rashid was transferred as Additional Inspector General of the police directorate.

However, Md Mainul Hasan, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) was appointed as the new commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police. 

The government on Tuesday cancelled the contractual appointment of IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun and appointed AIG Md Moynul Islam as the new police chief.
