Interim govt to be formed within 24 hours
Nahid Islam, one of the coordinators of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, briefs reporters outside Bangabhaban after 12:00 pm on Tuesday.

It has been decided to form an interim government headed by Nobel Laureate Dr Muhammad Yunus. This government will be formed within the next 24 hours.

This decision was made during a meeting between President Mohammed Shahabuddin and thirteen coordinators of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, the platform behind the recent uprising on Tuesday midnight. Chiefs of Army, Navy and Air Force were also present.

Following the meeting, Nahid Islam, one of the coordinators of the students’ platform, told reporters outside Bangabhaban after 12:00 pm.

He said, although we have decided to make Muhammad Yunus the head of the government, no other names have been finalized yet. We have suggested 10 to 15 names. This government will be formed by discussing with everyone.

However, he did not reveal the names on the list of ten to fifteen candidates.

Nahid also said that we proposed the name of Dr. Muhammad Yunus in the meeting. The President also agreed and said the interim government will be formed headed by him.

The coordinators of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement went to Bangabhaban shortly after 6:00 pm to discuss the current situation of the country and the outline of the interim government with the President.
