Change in army top brass, Maj Gen Ziaul sacked

The Bangladesh Army has undergone a significant reshuffle in its leadership.

In the latest changes, Major General Ziaul Ahsan has been relieved from service, according to a press release from the Directorate of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Tuesday (August 6).

In addition, Lieutenant General Md Saiful Alam has been reassigned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Other key appointments include Lieutenant General Mizanur Rahman Shamim as the Chief of General Staff of the Bangladesh Army, Lieutenant General Ahmad Tabrez Shams Chowdhury as Quartermaster General, Lieutenant General Md Mojibur Rahman as General Officer Commanding at Army Training and Doctrine Command, Lieutenant General Mohammad Shahinul Haque as Commandant of the National Defence College, and Major General ASM Ridwanur Rahman as Director General of the National Telecommunication Monitoring Centre.

These changes come in the wake of the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday.
