Many casualties in Monday’s clashes, 40 bodies at DMCH

Massive clashes took place in the capital on Monday centring the ‘March to Dhaka’ programme organized by the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement. 

Many casualties were reported in the clashes. The bodies of 40 people were kept at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), several of whom were not identified. In total, 397 people have been treated, and 71 of them have been admitted to the hospital. 

Md Bachhu Miah, Inspector and In-charge of the hospital’s police camp, confirmed the matter on Tuesday morning. 

He said 397 people suffered bullet injuries in the clashes at Jatrabari, Shanir Akhra, Bongshal, Kajla, Dania and surrounding areas of the capital and took treatment at the hospital from 11am to 8pm on Monday. Of them, 71 people have been admitted to the hospital. 40 people have also been declared dead.
