Jubilant crowds occupy Dhaka streets
The streets of Dhaka were overflowing with jubilant crowds following the news of Sheikh Hasina's resignation. People from all corners of the city converged on Shahbagh, creating a sea of celebratory chants and slogans. The atmosphere was electric as people took to the streets, expressing their joy and relief.
As the day progressed, the crowds swelled, filling the capital's major areas, including Shahbagh, Jatrabari, Gabtali, Uttara, Azampur, Mirpur 10, Badda, Rampura, Mohakhali, Shaheed Minar, and Khilgaon.
The streets became impassable as people celebrated, chanting for the resignation of Sheikh Hasina's government and demanding justice for those responsible for the recent violence against students.
The movement began in early July, when university students initiated protests demanding reforms in government job quotas.
The initial protests around Shahbagh were peaceful, but tensions escalated following police and Chhatra League attacks on July 14.
This sparked a nationwide uprising, with the death toll rising and people from all walks of life joining the students in their demand for change.
The protests culminated in a one-point demand for the government's resignation, leading to today's historic events.
