National Security Committee meeting underway at Ganabhaban

Amid the ongoing non-cooperation movement by anti-discrimination students, a meeting of the National Security Committee is currently taking place at Ganabhaban. 

The meeting began shortly after 11am on Sunday (August 4). 

The committee is convened by the Prime Minister and includes 29 members, comprising ministers, state ministers, the Security Advisor, secretaries, and heads of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Police, BGB, Coast Guard, Forces Intelligence, and NSI. 

Formed in 2019, the National Security Committee is tasked with reviewing all issues and activities related to the security and defense of the country. 

Its responsibilities include assessing and reviewing the internal security situation, providing directives on necessary security measures, and formulating recommendations for the Cabinet as required. 

The Cabinet Division provides secretarial support to this committee.
