5 people die inhaling toxic gas in Jessore

Five people died reportedly inhaling toxic gas inside an under-construction septic tank at Barandali village at Jessore’s Keshobpur Upazila on Monday afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Ahad Ali, 45, and Shafiqul Islam, 20, Hafiz Iqbal, 25, Al Amin, 22, and Abdul Hamid, 25, of Barandali village.

Local sources said the three workers went down the septic tank around 5 pm to remove support of its newly-built slab.

As they did not respond from inside, another two people of Barandali village tried to rescue them.

They all died after inhaling toxic gas in the septic tank.

Shahidul Islam, Officer in charge of Keshobpur Police Station confirmed the matter.
