Students stage demo blocking Dhaka-Rajshahi highway

A group of students of Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) on Saturday staged a demonstration blocking the Dhaka-Rajshahi highway to press home their nine-point demand and protesting the killing of students and the attacks on their Friday’s mass procession across the country.  

The students demanded resignation of the government. 

They started holding a rally in front of their campus blocking the highway at 10:30am. At that time, the students from different schools and colleges joined them. Some teachers of Rajshahi University and RUET also took part in the rally expressing their solidarity. 

RUET student Tanvir Hasan said we are holding a protest programme today. Our only demand is the resignation of the dictatorial government. The students will not return home without the resignation of the government. 

Professor Fazlul Haque, Former Dean of Arts Faculty of the Rajshahi University, said we have joined them expressing solidarity with their ongoing movement.
