Police pick up 12 protesters from Barishal University

Police picked up 12 people, including a coordinator of the quota reform protests, from the Barishal University campus on Thursday.

Sources said students and teachers of BU arranged a programme on the ground floor of the university around 11:00am as previously announced to protest the killing of students and harassment of teachers across the country.

Being informed, Chhatra League leaders and activists gathered there earlier.

Police and BCL men obstructed the protesters when they attended there and tried to bring out a procession.

Later, the law enforcers picked up 12 people, including two female students and one of the coordinators of the quota reform movement, Sujay Shuva.

In this regard, Barishal Metropolitan Police’s Bandar police station officer-in-charge, Abdur Rahman Mukul, said Chhatra League men are present on the campus and they took 12 protesters into police custody for their security and avoid clash between them.
