Short-distance train services resumed on Thursday morning fourteen days after the suspension amid countrywide unrest centring the quota reform movement.

A Dewanganj-bound commuter train left Kamalapur Railway Station in Dhaka at 7am.

The short-distance trains will be operated during when the curfew will be relaxed, according to the decision of Bangladesh Railway.

Kamalapur Railway Station Master Anwar Hossain told Jago News that the train movement resumed in the morning. The railway security personnel are on the train to ensure the safety of the train and its passengers.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Bangladesh Railway authorities took a decision to resume train services only on short distances from today.

It is mentionable that train services were suspended on July 18 amid a ‘complete shutdown’ programme declared by the quota reform protesters.
