Police fired teargas shells and sound grenades at the students to disperse them in Sylhet on Wednesday as they took to the streets to demand the justice for the deaths of fellow students.
The students started gathering at the main gate of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology around 11am as part of the nationwide 'March for Justice' programme seeking the implementation of a nine-point demand but police droved out from there.
Later, more students joined them and chanted various slogans. Around 1pm, hundreds of students marched toward the city’s Court Point.
Police obstructed the protesters when they reached Subidbazar but they broke through the police barricade.
Later, police fired teargas shells and sound grenades at them from behind to disperse them.
