2,822 arrested in Dhaka over violence centring quota protests

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has so far arrested 2,822 people in 243 cases filed over the violence, sabotage and vandalism centring the quota reform protests in the capital. 

Of them, 58 people, mostly the leaders and activists of BNP and Jamaat, were arrested in 14 cases filed with different police stations in Dhaka in the last 24 hours.

KN Roy Niyoti, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Media and Public Relations Department) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), confirmed the matter to Jago News on Monday. 

She said those involved in violence and arson attack incidents are being identified and arrested by analyzing intelligence information and CCTV footages. A total of 2,822 people were arrested in Dhaka till Monday. Of them, 58 were arrested in the last 24 hours.

She said fourteen new cases were filed in the last 24 hours. The people arrested in the cases were sent to the court.
