Anti-Discrimination Student Movement withdraws programmes
Nahid Islam, one of the coordinators of the Anti-discrimination Student Movement, announces the withdrawal of their programmes in a written statement on Sunday night.

The Anti-discrimination Student Movement has withdrawn all programmes as their main demands are met.

Nahid Islam, one of the coordinators of the movement, announced the withdrawal of their programmes in a video statement after a meeting held at the DB office in the capital’s Minto Road on Sunday night.

The other coordinators - Sarjis Alam, Hasnat Abdullah, Abu Baker Mazumder, Asif Mahmud and Nusrat Tabassum - were present during this time.

In the video statement, Nahid Islam said “Many people were unexpectedly injured and killed in the quota reform movement and the situation created centering the movement. Besides, many violent incidents including arson attacks in the state institutions occurred.”

“We strongly condemn all these untoward incidents and demand fair investigation and speedy trial over the incidents. Our main demand was the logical reform of the quota which the government has already met,” he added.

Calling upon the government to reopen educational institutions soon to ensure a congenial atmosphere for education, he said we are withdrawing all of our programmes from this moment.
